Briar:

Hi. I’m Briar, a songwriter and TikTok creator. I live in NYC, which could not be more different from the Adirondacks where I grew up. My songs connect moments in my life with universal truths about love, trust, and feeling the power to redefine yourself. Wherever you call home, I invite you to find your own power in the lyrics and melodies.

Her Eyes

I wrote this song while looking at a photo of the eyes of a girl who captured the attention of a former partner of mine. “Her Eyes” is about heartache and self-discovery with lyrics that contrast the beauty of her siren-like eyes against my own.

Fooled

An attempt to capture the bittersweet essence of what I like to call a "friendship breakup." The song delves into the pain of betrayal as a close friend chooses to maintain ties with a former partner who hurt me deeply.

"Fooled" is a powerful reminder that you must surround yourself with those who make you feel loved and supported.

It Isn’t What it Used to Be

This song is about the memories and emotions that arise when an ex unexpectedly resurfaces. It captures what it’s like to paw through the old memories of past love–both the joyful moments of when you were together and the pain of betrayal. This narrative is conveyed so well in my music video for this song, which was recorded in New York this summer.

I Let Him

One of my favorites to write. These lyrics just flowed out of me and the rhymes all clicked so perfectly. You’ll definitely like this song if you’re the kind of person who gives all of themselves to someone, and that quality of yours gets taken advantage of. At the end of the song, I direct the focus onto what I let myself do instead of what I let him do…the final lyric of the song is “I let him go.”

BTS Process

Spent the summer in the studio, and opened my process upto friends and family who helped refine the feel of the EP.
